Website & E-commerce Maintenance
Launching a website or online store is just the beginning. Without ongoing maintenance, your site accumulates security vulnerabilities, performance degrades, plugins become incompatible, and small problems turn into expensive emergencies. Our maintenance service keeps your site secure, fast and running smoothly — so you can focus on your business instead of worrying about technical issues.
What we maintain
Security updates. Outdated software is the number one cause of website breaches. We monitor security advisories for WordPress, WooCommerce, Magento and all your installed plugins, themes and extensions. When patches are released, we test them on a staging environment and apply them to production promptly. Critical security patches are prioritized and deployed within 24-48 hours. We do not wait for problems to appear — we prevent them.
Daily backups. Every day, we create a complete backup of your database and files, stored in a geographically separate location from your production server. We retain backups for 30 days as standard, with extended retention available. Crucially, we test backup integrity regularly. A backup that cannot be restored is worthless — we verify that yours work.
Uptime monitoring. We monitor your website and online store around the clock, checking availability from multiple locations every minute. When downtime is detected, our team is alerted immediately. Depending on your plan, we either notify you with a diagnosis or begin remediation automatically. We track uptime history and include it in your monthly reports.
Performance monitoring. Page speed directly affects conversion rates and search rankings. We continuously monitor Core Web Vitals — Largest Contentful Paint, First Input Delay, Cumulative Layout Shift — and server response times. When performance degrades, we investigate and resolve the root cause, whether it is a slow database query, an unoptimized image, a bloated plugin or a server configuration issue.
Plugin and extension management. The average WooCommerce store runs 25-40 plugins. Each one is a potential point of failure. We track every plugin for updates, known vulnerabilities and compatibility issues. Before applying updates, we test on staging to catch conflicts. We also identify plugins that are abandoned, redundant or poorly coded, and recommend replacements that improve stability and performance.
SSL certificate management. We ensure your SSL certificates are always valid, properly configured and auto-renewed. We monitor for expiration, check certificate chain integrity, verify HSTS headers and test for mixed content issues that can trigger browser security warnings and erode customer trust.
Platform-specific maintenance
WordPress and WooCommerce. WordPress powers over 40% of the web, which makes it the most targeted platform. Our WordPress maintenance includes core updates, plugin and theme updates, database optimization, user access review, login security hardening, comment spam management and PHP version management. For WooCommerce stores, we additionally monitor checkout functionality, payment gateway connections, shipping calculator accuracy and order processing workflows after every update.
Magento / Adobe Commerce. Magento requires specialized maintenance knowledge. We manage security patches (which Adobe releases quarterly), module updates, indexer health, cron job monitoring, cache management, log rotation and database table optimization. We monitor Magento’s admin panel for unauthorized access and ensure two-factor authentication remains properly configured.
Headless and custom builds. For headless commerce setups and custom-built sites, we maintain the full stack — frontend application, API layer, CMS, database and infrastructure. This includes dependency updates (npm, Composer, pip), API endpoint monitoring, CDN cache management and deployment pipeline maintenance.
Monthly reporting
Transparency is fundamental to our maintenance service. Every month, you receive a clear report covering:
- Uptime statistics — actual availability percentage and any incidents
- Updates applied — full list of core, plugin and extension updates with dates
- Security events — blocked attacks, vulnerability patches and scan results
- Performance metrics — Core Web Vitals trends, server response times and page load speeds
- Backup status — confirmation of successful backups and latest integrity test
- Recommendations — proactive suggestions for improvements, upcoming end-of-life warnings and optimization opportunities
Norwegian infrastructure considerations
Data residency. For businesses that require data to remain in Norway or the EEA, we ensure your hosting, backup storage and monitoring infrastructure comply with data residency requirements. This is particularly important for stores processing personal data under GDPR and the Norwegian Personal Data Act.
Norwegian payment integrations. After updates, we verify that Vipps, Klarna, Dintero and BankID integrations continue to function correctly. Payment provider API changes can break checkout flows silently — our post-update testing catches these issues before they cost you sales.
Bring and shipping. Shipping integrations with Bring, Postnord and other Norwegian carriers require ongoing attention as API versions change and rate tables update. We ensure your shipping calculations remain accurate and your label generation works reliably.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if my site goes down outside business hours?+
Our monitoring systems detect downtime within minutes, 24/7. Depending on your SLA tier, we either alert you immediately with a diagnosis or begin remediation automatically. Critical issues on higher-tier plans receive response within 1 hour, regardless of time of day. Every minute of downtime costs revenue — our goal is to resolve incidents before your customers notice.
How often do you run updates?+
Security patches are applied as soon as they are verified — typically within 24-48 hours of release for critical vulnerabilities. Non-critical updates (plugin features, minor WordPress or Magento versions) are batched and applied weekly or bi-weekly after testing on a staging environment. Major version upgrades are planned and scheduled with you in advance.
Do you keep backups, and how far back can you restore?+
Yes. We run daily automated backups of both your database and files, stored in a separate geographic location from your production server. Standard retention is 30 days, with longer retention available on request. Full restore typically takes 15-60 minutes depending on site size. We test backup integrity monthly to ensure restores actually work when you need them.
Can I still make changes to my site myself?+
Absolutely. You retain full access to your admin panel. We recommend coordinating on major changes — such as installing new plugins or modifying theme files — so we can verify compatibility and maintain your security posture. For content updates, product management and day-to-day operations, you work as normal.
What is included in a typical maintenance plan?+
Our standard plan includes: security updates for core, plugins and themes; daily backups with 30-day retention; uptime monitoring with alerting; monthly performance reports; SSL certificate management; quarterly security scans; and a fixed number of support hours for bug fixes and small changes. We tailor plans to your platform and business needs — no unnecessary extras.
